All beers sampled at the brewpub August 5, 1995. Sampling repeated when the opportunity arose to ensure the quality of these reviews. Or something like that. The Twenty Tank, related to my beloved Big Time in Seattle and the Triple Rock in Berkeley, is now a memory. It was a cool space with some nice beers.
| Mellow Gold | American Pale Ale | * * |
| This is the keg sample. Some hop in falvor, innocuous flavor, slight hop finish. Rather boring. |
| Mellow Gold | American Pale Ale | * * |
| This is the cask sample. Same as above, but with a fruity characteristic not evident in the tank product. Still pretty boring. |
| Kolsch | American-brewed Kolsch | * * * |
| Credible attempt. Dry finish, somewhat of a winey note on the palate. |
| IPA | AIPA | * * * |
| No nose. OK bitterness for an IPA, some hop in flavor profile. Decent supporting malt base; overall better than the IPA offered by Twenty-Tank cousins out in Berkeley at Triple Rock. |
| Red Top Ale | American Amber | * * 1/2 |
| Nice malty profile in nose, supported by some hop. Crystal notes dominate flavor, with some supporting hop characteristic. |
| Danger Dark | American Brown | * * * 1/2 |
| Hugely hazy. Chocolate notes in the aroma. with hints of crystal. Flavor dominated by a slight lingering bitterness. |
| Kinnikinick Stout | Oatmeal Stout | * * * |
| Thinnish body, not oily enough for an assertive oat stout. Would make a terrific dry stout, but as an oatmeal stout it lacks legs. |
| Standard | American Pale Ale | * * * 1/2 |
| Very fruity in profile, lots of character. Nice, assertive American hop profile. Good session beer, and perhaps the best beer at Twenty Tank that summer morning. |
